I sure am flattered by all of you who want to know what kind of camera I use and what sort of class that I took. It must mean that you think I am doing something right. :) I have gotten a lot of emails asking about this so I decided to stop repeating myself and just put it on here. I use a Canon Rebel XSi. The reason why I purchased the Canon was it was recommended by a few photographer friends. They thought it was a great starting DSLR camera and if you add additional lenses they are reasonably priced. I also know people who use and love the Nikon cameras. I have realized that nothing is that "reasonably" priced in photography. It seems like you constantly need more and more stuff. There are classes, lenses, filters, tripods, external flashes, flash covers, camera bags, editing tools, websites, and on and on and on. I have really gotten into it all and love it but it could be a continuous investment of time & money... also fun!
2nd question I am getting is the type of class that I took. I took Digital Photography I & II at the Art Center in Austin. It is through the city. Colleges also offer adult night classes. The sessions each were 6 classes for 3 hours one night a week. I think it was very helpful in teaching you how to put your camera in manual, take light readings, some composition and just going over all the functions of the camera. The rest you have to do on your own which is lots of practice and question asking.
Hope this helps and that you all enjoy it as much as I have. :)
